I think that the human species is and always has been diverse in a wide variety of ways, including neurologically, and at different times and places I think that diversity has just been handled differently and has posed more or less of a problem
We are a group of students at the University of Chicago who have Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism, and we're here to provide a window into the autistic worldview. We can provide information from our own personal experience, point you towards information in the thriving online autistic community, or give you a history of Middle English Pronouns. We're aspies. Between us, we know a lot of random stuff.

In the last few years special educators and "regular ed" teachers have become aware of the growing number of autistic students in their programs. Within that group are students identified as "Asperger Syndrome" or high functioning autistics. They are a complicated group!
My name is Suz and I was diagnosed with this condition in 2002 at the age of 25. I made this site so I could bring together everything I have learnt since then so I could share it with other people.

An inter-active web site that allows individuals with Asperger's Syndrome, their families and anyone with an interest in Asperger's to interact and support one another as well as share ideas and problem solving strategies and suggestions. The web site is also intended to create access for professionals and public policy makers so they can learn directly from primary and secondary consumers.
I co-founded the Asperger's Resource Group with colleague Linda Baker in 1996. Since then, Linda and I have been the recipients of several grants supporting this work, including one from the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation as well as a PEPSI grant. We produced a 30-minute documentary entitled: Understanding Asperger's (2000) which is available online.

Welcome to The Geek Syndrome. This is a popular name for Asperger's Syndrome. The name Geek Syndrome was coined after more people in Silicon Valley were diagnosed with aspergers, and were also computer workers - and geeks. Please try our aspergers test, it for for interest only, and of course cannot be diagnostic. 9 out of 10 people with aspergers who take the quiz get a score of 25 or higher.
Due to the similarity of behaviors associated with autism and PDD, use of the term pervasive developmental disorder has caused some confusion among parents and professionals. However, the treatment and educational needs are similar for both diagnoses.
